What to check on any engraved piece

Engraved jewelry is bought once and lived with for years, so it is worth four questions before you order anything, this included.

What the engraving actually is. Engraving cuts into the surface. It does not sit on top of it and it does not wash off. Ask whether a piece is engraved or printed.

What is under the plating, and whether the chain matches. Here the heart and the beads are copper and the chain is stainless steel, which is the harder wearing of the two.

The character limit, before you settle on a name. Ten characters per bead here. Longer names have to be shortened, and it is better to know that now than at the checkout.

Whether it can be sent back. Almost nothing engraved can be resold, so almost nothing engraved is returnable for a change of mind. That is true here too, and it is why the spelling step matters.

Questions people ask first

What if I spell a name wrong? Check it twice before you order. An engraved piece cannot be returned for a change of mind. If we engrave it differently from what you typed, that one is ours to fix and we replace it free.

Will the engraving wear away? The names are cut into the metal, not printed on top of it, so the line stays legible with wear. Because the cut goes through the plating, the line may show the copper beneath and may darken at a different rate from the surface around it. That is what engraved plating does, and it is not a fault.

Can I put five different names on it? Yes. One name to a bead, up to five, and they do not have to be related to each other.

Is the gold real? No. It is a gold-tone electroplated finish.

What if it arrives damaged or wrong? Contact us and we replace it or refund you at no cost to you. You are never asked to pay return postage on those.
